Reporting & Trust Policy
How to report a scam, fake listing, or bad actor — and how Roov handles reports.
This page is a working draft — the substance is what the product does today, but the final wording is pending review. Contact support@roov.africa if anything here contradicts what you were told in-app.
What to report
Listings that appear fake, use photos of a different property, or advertise a unit the manager doesn't have the right to rent.
Property managers or hunters who ask you to pay outside Roov.
Property managers who send abusive or threatening messages.
Property managers who consistently fail to respond to inquiries, cancel inspections without notice, or misrepresent their listings.
Any suspected fraud, identity theft, or use of Roov for illegal activity.
How to report
On a listing: open the vacancy detail page, tap the More menu next to the property manager card, choose "Report this listing," pick a reason, and submit. See the "Report a suspicious listing" guide for step-by-step.
In a chat: open the conversation, tap the More menu at the top of the chat, choose "Report conversation," pick a reason, and submit. See the "Report a user" guide.
By email: trust@roov.africa. Include the URL of the listing or a screenshot of the chat, plus any specifics you have.
What happens next
The Roov trust team reviews every report within 24 hours.
You will not usually get a personal update on each report you file — this is deliberate to protect the person you reported from being tipped off.
Action taken depends on severity: warning, listing takedown, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination.
Where a report suggests a crime (identity theft, fraud, threats of violence), Roov may involve Nigerian law enforcement.
False reports
Filing repeated false or malicious reports against another user is itself a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy and may lead to your own account being suspended.
Anonymity
The person you report is not told who reported them. The Roov trust team sees the reporter's identity as part of the review — this helps us weigh the report and follow up if we need clarification.
